299 QUEEN STREET EAST

This court was re-designed for the Kickback Connect Team; a youth led organization based in Toronto led by Jamal Burger. The design was was passed onto Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) to be constructed, and opened to the public October 2021.

We were able to using accessible and universal design principles to make a better and more attractive court for the youth of Toronto. Obstacles with the previous court consisted of poor lighting, lack of seating, no accessible entrance or paved area for wheelchairs and strollers as well as an unlevelled court. We also took the opportunity to add taller fencing to avoid balls from reaching Queen Street.

Overall this project was incredibly rewarding, and witnessing people use the court makes it that much more exciting!
